What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It uses a timer to break work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. This method trains your brain to focus for short periods and helps you stay on top of deadlines or constantly-refilling inboxes.
How to use it effectively
- Decide on the task to be done and add it to the list
- Set the timer to 25 minutes (Work mode)
- Work on the task until the timer rings
- Take a short 5-minute break
- Every 4 pomodoros, take a longer 15-minute break
Benefits
- • Manages distractions and controls time
- • Increases accountability
- • Improves weekly and daily planning
- • Decreases back pain and mental fatigue
- • Maintains motivation
